这个音像 fun, sun, love, come, enough，是一个放松、居中的短元音。
发音时嘴巴不要张得太大，也不要圆唇。
很多词虽然拼写不是 u，但也读 /ʌ/。
比如 son, another, enough, money, mother, Sunday。
不要看到 o 或 ou 就按拼写直接读。

它不是 /æ/ 那种张口偏前的音，也不是 /ɑ/ 那种张口靠后的音。

/ɔ/ 是 saw, law, all, bought 里的音。
它是一个后元音，嘴巴打开，但嘴唇比 /ɑ/ 稍微圆一点，整体嘴型像椭圆。
/ɑ/ 像 father, hot，嘴巴打开，不圆唇。
/ɔ/ 像 saw, law，嘴巴也打开，但嘴唇略微圆，形状更像椭圆。
在很多美式口音里，/ɔ/ 和 /ɑ/ 会非常接近，甚至有些美国人自己也不明显区分。
所以初学时不用过度焦虑，但要先知道书里是在训练这个区别。
