Here are some common words spelled with the letter u and pronounced as oo rather than as you.

先单独读目标词：
duty / produce / Tuesday / student / tutor / studio / tune / due / stupid。
然后再放回句子里读。
读的时候让嘴唇圆起来，声音保持 /u/，不要在前面额外加很重的 “y”。
如果你以前接触过英式发音，可能会习惯把 tune、student、duty 读成带 /ju/ 的感觉。
这不是错，只是这里训练的是美式发音，所以要按美式方向调整。

Review of the /ər/ Sound

The words work, turn, bird, and early are all spelled with a different vowel, yet the vowel sound is the same. This frequently happens when a vowel is followed by the letter r. The sound remains /ər/. Non-native speakers are frequently tempted to pronounce the vowels as they are spelled, and they make the common mistakes of saying “wor+k” instead of “wer+k” for work, and “two+rn” instead of turn, and sometimes even “beer+d” instead of “bere+d” for bird.
这一节开始复习 /ər/。
它出现在 work, turn, bird, early 这类词里。
虽然这些词的拼写不同：or, ur, ir, ear，但被 r 影响后，核心元音都会变成类似 /ər/ 的声音。
当元音后面跟 r 时，元音经常会被 r 改造。
这时不要按字母本来的拼写去读。
比如：
work 不要按 or 的感觉读。
turn 不要按 u 的感觉读。
bird 不要读成 beer + d。

这张表非常重要：
不同拼写 er / ear / ir / or / ur，在这些词里都可以读成 /ər/。
所以不要被拼写迷惑，要把它们当作同一类发音来练。
er：her, serve, verb, were, nerd
ear：early, earth, earn, heard, learn
ir：circle, dirt, first, girl, birthday
or：work, worry, worse, worm, world
ur：turn, curly, burn, Thursday, hurt
不要只竖着读一列。
可以横着练：
her / early / circle / work / turn。
这样你会发现：虽然拼写完全不同，但中间那个被 r 影响的元音非常接近。
work 和 walk 不一样。
heard 和 hard 不一样。
bird 和 beard 不一样。
这些词都需要按 /ər/ 的逻辑去处理。
