Study Tip
Have you ever heard Americans speak your native language? Practice imitating their accent. This will help you to get in touch with the American mouth movements and sounds. For example, when Americans speak Spanish, you will notice that they often prolong the Spanish o into an /oʊ/ sound. “Hola amigo” often sounds like: “oula amigou.” Or, “my friends Ricardo and Roberto” sounds like: “my friends Ricardou and Robertou.” A similar vowel change often occurs when Americans speak French. The vowel /e/ ends up sounding like /eɪ/. “Je vais au marché” can sound like: “Je veiii au marcheiii.” So, when you speak English, prolong these vowels the same way, and you will be on the right track!

比如 go, no, home 里的 /oʊ/，不是一个静止的“哦”，而是有从圆唇向后收的滑动。
你可以适当夸张一点练，先让嘴巴记住动作。
这条建议的本质是：
不要只用中文的发音习惯去套英语。
要主动模仿美式英语的嘴型变化，尤其是双元音的“延长感”和“滑动感”。

这句话用来综合复习前面几个容易混淆的元音：
/ɛ/、/æ/、/ɑ/、/ɔ/、/ʌ/ 和 /oʊ/。
know 是 /oʊ/。
God、not 更接近 /ɑ/。
anything 里有 /ɛ/。
can’t、handle 里有 /æ/。
just、trust、much 里有 /ʌ/。
so 是 /oʊ/。
先不要急着背句子。
你可以先把这句话里的目标词单独拿出来练：
know / God / not / anything / can’t / handle / just / trust / so / much。
然后再整句跟读。
这一句的作用是把前面几个元音放在同一句话里复习。
真正的目标不是单独读准某个词，而是在一句完整表达中保持多个元音之间的区别。

Let’s review the vowel sounds that we have been working on so far. Practice saying the following short words that contain the following vowel sounds: /ɛ/, /æ/, /ɑ/, /ɔ/, /ʌ/, and /oʊ/.

它把几个容易混淆的元音放在一起，让你训练“同一个辅音框架里，换不同元音，词义就改变”的感觉。
这一组非常适合练嘴型变化：
/ɛ/ 嘴巴中等打开；
/æ/ 更打开；
/ɑ, ɔ/ 更靠后；
/ʌ/ 放松居中；
/oʊ/ 圆唇并滑动。
这一组可以帮助你区分：
lack 的 /æ/，
lock 的 /ɑ/ 或 /ɔ/，
luck 的 /ʌ/，
low 的 /oʊ/。
这组很适合反复练。
尤其注意：
bat 和 but 不一样；
bought 和 boat 不一样；
bet 和 bat 也不一样。
不要一列一列机械读。
更推荐横着读：
kept → cap → cop → cup → cope。
这样你可以明显感受到嘴巴从中间、打开、靠后、放松、圆唇滑动的变化。
